Wedding at the Armenian Church

Our first engagement for the day saw us at the Armenian Church for Shirley’s wedding. We started off playing for the prelude as the guests arrive, and then played Air on G for the processional. To the bride’s request, we reserved Canon in D to mark her march down the aisle. The worship team then took over for the rest of the service, and we came on again for the signing of the register and the march-out. There was some time left for us to play the postlude as guests took turns to take photos with the couple, and eventually, we got our turn as well :)

Catholic Wedding at the Church of The Nativity

Not the most typical day and time for a wedding, Resonance Quartet was engaged to play at the Church of The Nativity for Nicole’s Catholic wedding on a hot Tuesday afternoon. Other than the usual processional and recessional, we followed the program order closely as we played to specific events during the mass, such as the preparation of the altar and the communion.

Wedding at St Regis

One thing leads to another! Cathy, Rachel‘s cousin, engaged us for her wedding this July at the St Regis hotel. What’s unique about this engagement is that Wen Bin, our cellist and arranger, customised for string quartet, a set of Medieval music by Henry Tudor VIII. Cathy and Sandy have specially requested for “Greensleeves” to be arranged for their march-in, with the Tudors having a special meaning for them. They did a little Tudor dance while being accompanied with our playing of “Greensleeves”, to the warm smiles and applause from the guests of this cosy and intimate party.

Very sweet of the couple to send us an e-card after the wedding!

We kicked off June 2011 with 2 back-to-back wedding gigs. On 11 June, performed for David’s wedding cocktail reception at the Shangri-La Hotel.

The next day, the Resonance Quartet was at the Raffles Hotel performing for Brian’s wedding. The solemnisation ceremony was held outside the East India Rooms next to the water fountain, and we played as the procession and bride marched-in. We then shifted inside the banquet room where we played to the couple’s march-in, and then entertained the guests with 2 sets of music as they proceeded with their lunch.

We were glad to learn that Nita’s guests had a good time:

Just want to thank you for making my wedding event so much better with your impeccable music. Sorry I didn’t have a chance to have a chat with any of you. Thank you so much, I’ve had a great feedback about your performance from my guests.

A testimonial from Zheng Yu, the groom:

Hi Resonance Quartet,
Thank you very much for your wonderful performance during our event. We received many compliments from our guests, and I think you may have noticed that my dad thoroughly enjoyed your music as well. Your presence really elevated the atmosphere and ambience to a different level.

Indeed, it was heartwarming to receive the appreciative applause by the guests, and to see Zheng Yu’s father moving to a seat closer to us and listening intently to our playing.

Zheng Yu was also kind enough to forward us photos taken by his photographer :)
